To create added value within the production process, the company utilizes bagasse—a by-product of sugar production—and sugarcane leaves collected by farmers as raw materials for generating steam energy and electricity. The energy produced is used both internally and sold to the national power utilities.
Currently, the group has a total installed capacity of 181.9 megawatts and the capability to efficiently generate and supply 71.29 megawatts of electricity to the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) and the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA).
The biomass renewable energy business not only helps reduce pollution caused by the burning of agricultural residues, but also plays a vital role in enhancing quality of life and increasing income for sugarcane farmers through the purchase of sugarcane leaves as supplementary fuel. This contributes to the sustainable development of Thailand’s sugarcane and sugar industry—both in terms of energy and environmental stewardship.
